Cat Exhibits
Members of GLACE (Great Lakes Area Cat Enthusiasts, Inc.) and their friends are bringing a special display of over two dozen different cat breeds for viewing by the public. Cats will be available for up-close viewing and their proud owners will be on hand to answer questions about the breed. Most breeds will have informational displays about the breed, its characteristics and purrsonality.
In the cat area are two presentation areas, where members of the cat club will talk about cat breeds, evaluate the cats of different breeds and award rosettes to the "best cats" of each (much like a cat show), and talk about cat color genetics and names, and cat grooming and care.
The cat area will also feature a cat agility ring, where cats will jump through hoops, weave around and step over obstacles and run through a tunnel to earn agility titles, skill certificates, and bragging rights and cash prizes for being the fastest most accurate cat or kitten on the course.
ICAT-Cat Agility
Several times each day cats and kittens will compete in an International Cat Agility Tournament on the course in the cat area. Cats and kittens will jump through hoops, race through a tunnel, weave around poles, and step over a "ladder" obstacle. They will earn "clean runs" towards the title of "Champion Agility Cat" and skill certificates. The fastest, cleanest runs will earn cash prizes and have their times posted against cats and kittens competing on similar courses across the United States, Canada, and Europe for yearly Best Agility Cat and Kitten awards.
Some cats readily take to the course and will zoom over it in a matter of seconds-others will take their time and do a few obstacles and jumps for their owners, lured by a teaser. Cats who adapt well to agility quickly learn that they are on an agility course; it's much more than just following a toy to them. They can be seen looking ahead on the agility course, much like a horse would on a jumping course. Those who work with various animals in agility competitions state that the cats are more like horses in this regard than dogs, who tend to take a course jump-by-jump, obstacle-by-obstacle.
This is the third year for cat agility competition, so it is in its infancy. It is exciting to watch-be sure and check out the latest in the world of cat exhibitions!
Parade of Cats
Susan Lee, Specialty Judge for The International Cat Association, will be presenting over two dozen different breeds of cats for the public. She'll show off one or more cats of each breed, explain its history, characteristics, and purrsonality. You can learn all about Maine Coons, Manx, Cymrics, Russian Blues, Chartreux, and Bengals. There will be special representatives the oldest "naked" (furless) cat breed, the Donskoy, from Russia. Another new breed, the Savannah, being created from the African Serval, will be shown as well. There will be top show quality examples of the Silver Persian, Cornish Rex, Havana Brown, and Ragdolls too.
Cat Presentations
Members of the Great Lakes Area Cat Enthusiasts, Inc. and their friends will be presenting their cats for "judging" in various breed groups. TICA cat show judges Bill and Susan Lee will be evaluating them and awarding ribbons for the best cats and kittens of each color and breed, and rosettes to the best cats in each group. In that respect, it will be much like a cat show. What is different at this exhibit, is that the judges will explain to the public how the cats are evaluated and what puts one over another.
What Color is My Cat? And Cat Grooming and Health Seminars
TICA Allbreed Judge Bill Lee will explain basic cat color genetics and what causes cats to be one color or another in "What Color is My Cat?" seminars to be held each day. Learn how your gray cat at home becomes all gray instead of striped, what tabby pattern your house pet has, and what color names to call the different patterns and colors of cats.
GLACE (Great Lakes Area Cat Enthusiasts, Inc.) members Tiffany Marrison and Erica Tadajewski will explain how to give a cat a bath, how to blow it dry, and other cat grooming and care tips. They have experience in grooming both long and short-haired cats for show, so can share many secrets about making your house cats even more beautiful.

Musical Freestyle is a choreographed musical program performed by handlers and their dogs. The object of musical freestyle is to display the dog and handler in a creative, innovative and original dance, using music and intricate movements to showcase teamwork, artistry, costuming, athleticism and style in interpreting the theme of the music. Heelwork-to-Music incorporates traditional dog obedience and the art of dressage with the inclusion of musical interpretation, dance elements, and costuming with an emphasis on non-standard obedience movements. Both Musical Freestyle and Heelwork-To-Music routines should create a visually exciting display which is enjoyable to watch and which is equally enjoyable to dogs and handlers executing the programs. Canine freestyle is a showcase that truly demonstrates the joys and fun of bonding with your pet.
